Shidoshi Chance grew up on the east side of Baltimore County where drugs,
violence, and genuine lack of opportunity plagued the community. Yet
despite these obstacles Shidoshi Chance purposed it in his heart to make
something of himself and not allow his environment to dictate his future.
Shidoshi Chance personified the essences of Nin (perseverance and
endurance) by overcoming these odds by a "prevailing for a purpose"
mindset which he now attempts to transmit to other youth who face the same
obstacles he once faced. Shidoshi Chance attributes his success to God,
giving him all the glory in everything and comments, "without God working in
my life, I couldn't have done anything". Furthermore, Shidoshi Chance
believes that his involvement in sports, and especially martial arts was a key
element that God used to keep him focused and stay on the right course.
Shidoshi Chance has been practicing martial arts as a method of
self-defense and survival for over 15 years now. Currently, he is the second
highest ranked teacher in the martial art system of Seisho Ryu Ninjutsu. In
addition to this, Chance is a very avid athlete playing everything from tennis
to football. Besides being an athlete he enjoys studying everything from
Asian history to Criminal law. He is a one time Boys & Girls Club of America
Youth of the Year; as well as a respected member of the community.
