In 1989 Anthony started training in traditional Ninjutsu. This blended perfectly with his love for the outdoors. He trained in unconventional ways as he was always in the woods learning from nature, hunting, tracking, camping, hiking and building.
Anthony was trained in traditional Ninjutsu outdoors in all weather conditions by a black belt and brown belt who were affiliated with a local Ninjutsu school in Maryland.
The training was very harsh, but was free so he felt he couldn't turn it down, something was calling him to continue. In 1993 after about 3 1/2 years the main instructor who was teaching Anthony moved and Anthony continued studying the art through Mr. Bussey's tapes, reading authentic Ninjutsu books -and basically trying to fill in the blanks with the training he had received and to check the credibility of he own skills.
In 1994 Anthony became a born again Christian and with this new passion and love, a vision came to him for these two organizations.
A turning point came in Anthony's life while attending a local church for some time. He was amazed at what he saw, he thought to himself, this is not how the Book of Acts depicts the church. Furthermore, while attending other churches from time to time he witnessed the same types of emotionalism, showmanship, and false doctrine. He felt compelled in his Spirit to "Take Action for the Kingdom of God" because others were not.
Therefore, to fulfill the call of God on his life, he has through divine guidance created the American Christian Defense Alliance, Inc. and with the help of his students, the martial art system called Seisho Ryu Ninjutsu.
In 1996 While attending the same local church Anthony met a man who had been studying Northern Shalin Kung Fu and other Chinese arts for twelve years and started to train with him. He claims he picked up some interesting principles. However, the gentleman was older and "couldn't hit the ground" so the training was limited -but again free for both. This training continued off and on for a number of years. During this time he also started to study the principles of Aikido and Aikijujutsu.
In 2000 Anthony started to study grappling and submission fighting ground techniques as well as Brazilian Jujitsu.
After several years of blood, sweat, and tears Anthony has gain the practical skills necessary to formulate the all encompassing Ryu-ha known as Seisho Ryu Ninjutsu. He finally says, "It is done, but always evolving".
Anthony’s personal ministry is the youth- 16 -30. This art is about giving them the guidance to achieve success. He says, "I went through a lot so if I can be there to help someone make a good choice and not make all the mistakes I made its very rewarding."
His policy is only to teach people that he trusts and there is several requirements to joining up and training -not just anyone can join and train. Character counts, and if you have it, we will test it. Furthermore, he is always careful not to miss represent himself -he lets people know we are an independent Ninjutsu organization -a fact all members are proud of. He is also proud of our "style" and our Ryu-ha because we do things much differently then most. Through the grace of God Anthony claims, "I am what I am -nothing more, nothing less- Just a founder" Anthony allows his skills and abilities speak for themselves rather than paper certificates.
However, Anthony has received certification as the founder of Seisho Ryu Ninjutsu from the American Christian Defense Alliance, Inc. Board of Directors. Furthermore, on July 8th, 2008 Anthony sensei was awarded the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt through Karate for Christ International's Japanese Arts Division by US Kaicho Mike Lewis. Karate for Christ International is the worlds largest Christian Martial Arts Organization. Anthony sensei proclaimed, "It was a true honor to be awarded rank through them". Yet a little over a year later Anthony sensei renounced the rank and formally resigned as the Maryland State Representative for KFCI. As sensei began to interact on KFCI's main online group it became clear that those in leadership positions are not concerned with helping to set the captives free but are there merely to control this rare group of Christians who practice martial arts - As you can clearly read if you click the link above. They once again are preaching and teaching the submission doctrine Rom. 13:1 (Hitler's Favorite Bible Verse). Are they part of the "Clergy Response Teams (Part 2)"? We don't know, but we do know they sure acted like it. For a better Biblical Interpretation of Rom. 13 Click Here. The American Christian Defense Alliance and its members have NO affiliation at this time with Karate for Christ International. The American Christian Defense Alliance will continue to help set the captives free both physically and spiritually through all Godly means possible.
Anthony's academic achievements include an Associate of Arts in General Studies and an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from the Community College of Baltimore County. During this time at CCBC Anthony was active in the campus Christian club which was associated with Campus Crusade for Christ. Anthony also joined Phi Theta Kappa after his first semester due to his high GPA. Then later at CCBC Anthony assisted at the Student Success Center as a Peer Advisor, and Peer Tutor. Anthony sensei is a certified level 1 tutor with the college Reading & Learning Association.
Anthony continued his studies at the University of Baltimore and earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies which focused on Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Psychology. Anthony sensei continues to learn and grow with further self-directed studies in areas of interest to him and believes one should never stop learning or put limits on how one can learn.
Anthony sensei has also worked with at risk youth, troubled teens, and those with disabilities for approximately 10 years now. Anthony has been trained in Crisis Prevention, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Behavior Modification and a host of other behavior management techniques. Anthony sensei also has been trained in First Aid and CPR numerous times and currently holds a valid American Red Cross card for both.
"Unlike other martial arts we refuse to prostitute our art for monetary gain". It is Anthony's prayer that the practitioners of Seisho Ryu will continue to honor and protect the nobility and sacred teachings within the art.
